It all began in 1948 with the contracting company Gebr. Van den Heuvel. Rinus, the son, primarily focused on maintaining and repairing machines. Initially, this was limited to their own machines, but expanded to include the revision and maintenance of equipment from third parties. By the 80’s, this branch grew so significantly that Van den Heuvel Repair & Service continued as an independent company. They acquired import rights for the Finnish brand Junttan for the Benelux, added a metal workshop, and also started building their own machines. In 2017, Van den Heuvel obtained the distribution rights for the Sennebogen Crane Line in the Netherlands, which gave the company an additional boost and helped it grow into what it is today: a thriving business with a team of about 80 employees!
Loyal employees and customer trust
Fifteen years ago, Marc Timmerman took over the reins from Rinus van den Heuvel and looks proudly at his team and the work they deliver. Marc says, “Our employees have made the company what it is today. We frequently celebrate anniversaries of colleagues who have been with us for 30, 35, or even 40 years. That really says something about the commitment people have to our company. Additionally, I think the quality of what we produce and how we interact with our customers is very impressive. This is also reflected in the trust our customers have. We undertake projects that do not yet exist, that might only have a drawing. That a customer is then willing to invest a lot of money because they know we will deliver is very valuable to me.”
Deepening and sustainability
Although Marc sees the versatility of the company as a strength, the focus for the coming years is on deepening. Marc explains, “Our company roughly consists of three pillars: piling technology, cranes and projects. This is where we excel and where we will further deepen in the coming years. For example, developing new piling machines. Sustainability also plays an important role. We are currently electrifying Sennebogen cranes, but this will also be the future for other machines. And of course, we are making investments in the company itself. A new painthall is coming, a new warehouse, and are expanding our office. For further grow and to improve Van den Heuvel. On to the next 75 years!”
